Firmware Updates

Starlink does not publish an official firmware/software changelog. The firmware updates featured on this page are the versions I receive on my own Starlink’s, so it may not be a complete list. Not all regions and dishes receive the same updates.

The most recent firmware updates for the dish are listed below. If you received an update that isn’t included here, send me a message so I can add it.

Frequently Asked Questions

To check which firmware/software version your dish is running, open the Starlink app. Scroll down to the bottom, then tap Advanced. The software version is listed under the Starlink section, labeled Software version.

You can tell when the firmware was last updated by checking Uptime. To find it, open the Starlink app. Tap Advanced at the bottom. Uptime will be listed under the Starlink section. Each time the firmware updates, Starlink reboots, and resets the uptime counter. Updates usually occur in the early morning, around 1:00AM-4:00AM.

Starlink doesn’t push every software version to every user. The version you are currently on depends on several factors: Location, dish model, service plan, etc. To put it simply, you are on the software version Starlink wants you to be on, and it will update when Starlink wants it to update.

If you have a message in your Starlink app letting you know a software update is available, you can choose to manually initiate an update. The process takes about 10-15 minutes, and your internet connection will be interrupted during the update. Otherwise, there is no way to manually force Starlink to update the firmware/software version. There is also no way to downgrade to a previous version.

Starlink software updates are 100% automatic. There is nothing you need to do. If Starlink pushes an update to your dish it will be downloaded automatically. The dish will install the new version and reboot overnight, typically between 1:00AM and 4:00AM.

If your Starlink dish is powered on with a clear view of the sky, it will continue to receive software updates, regardless of your subscription status.
